Only 3% of Russian missiles fired in 2024 hit military targets in Ukraine — Defense Minister
Since the beginning of the year, 97% of Russian missiles, UAVs, and guided bombs have hit civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said at an emergency meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council on March 28.
The minister specified that the combined explosive power of Russian airstrikes on Ukraine in 2024 exceeds 9 kilotons.
"The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights reports that out of 1,804 confirmed civilian casualties over the past three months, 712 were caused by missile strikes and cluster munitions," said Umerov.

He also implored Kyiv’s partners to provide more air defense systems and ammunition to reduce the impact from Russian attacks.

"The more Russian missiles we shoot down in Ukrainian skies, the less threat they will pose to NATO member states bordering Ukraine," Umerov concluded.
On March 28, Kyiv called an emergency meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council in Brussels, after Russia fired over 150 cruise and ballistic missiles at Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in less than a week.
