Only 11.59% of registered voters have returned ballots in Union County

LA GRANDE — Union County ballots have slowly started to trickle in for the primary election.

Only 11.59% of Union County voters have returned their ballots as of Monday, May 13, according to Union County Clerk Lisa Feik. However, this did not include any ballots returned on May 13.

This is comparable, Feik said, to the percentage of returned ballots Union County received at the same time during other primary elections.

“People just need to get out and vote,” she said.

Feik said her office mailed ballots to 19,507 voters. Ballots were mailed May 1.

Ballots are due by 8 p.m. on Election Day, May 21.

Feik recommends that voters turn in their ballots at drop boxes located throughout Union County.

Voter turnout around the state is low with under 1% of ballots being returned as of May 13, according to the unofficial ballot returns reported by the election division of the Oregon Secretary of State. So far, 15,148 ballots have been counted in Oregon.
