Oneonta mayor seeks help organizing Fourth of July parade

May 14—Oneonta mayor seeks help with parade

Oneonta Mayor Mark Drnek said he has heard from city residents loud and clear — the Fourth of July parade should happen this year.

To that end, Drnek has put out a call for anyone interested in helping to organize the parade, and is hoping to draw six to eight people, he said.

He also is looking at forming a community-based parade committee to keep the momentum going, he said Tuesday.

Longtime parade emcee and organizer David Hayes moved out of state, which was part of the reason why the Memorial Day parade also was canceled.

Volunteers should contact Drnek at 607-437-2566 or mayor@oneonta.ny.us, or contact Otsego County Chamber of Commerce President Sean Lewis at slewis@otsegocc.com.
