‘One of us’: Former Lincoln County K-9 who served 4+ years dies

LINCOLNTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A retired Lincoln County K-9 died on Tuesday, her handler, retired Lt. Allen Manns shared with the sheriff’s office.

Kolva served the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office for 4 ½ years before retiring in 2023.

“Kolva was a big part of the beginnings of the K-9 program at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office,” Major Matt Lykins said.

During Kolva’s tenure she helped with drug searches, article searches, tracking, apprehensions and public demonstrations. She helped detect countless amounts of narcotics that were removed from the streets.

Deputies say Kolva touched many people’s lives in the public. Her duties included presence at schools, National Night Out, The Apple Festival and other events.

“The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will miss Kolva and are proud to say she was one of us,” deputies said.
