Gladiators finalist Bronte Jones may be okay with taking on superhuman athletes in the arena, but when faced with a presenter of The One Show after swearing before the TV watershed, she had no chance.

Ahead of tonight's (March 30) big finale, Bronte and fellow contender Marie-Louise Nicholson were on the sofa alongside Gladiators Fire and Fury to talk about their experience on the game show, and to hype up the last episode of the series.

When asked about a dicey Gladiators moment on the cargo net, where she lost her footing and fell behind her opponent, Bronte said: "I never once thought, 'Oh, I've lost it.' I kind of think, 'bloody hell, I've got some catching up to do here.'

"That's the thing about the Eliminator, you just never know what's going to happen."

Later on, Bronte spoke about her Gladiator opponents and said: "I went up against Fury the most, and she's nails. She knows how to tackle, and every single time I were thinking, 'bloody hell, I'm up against Fury here.'"

Presenter Gethin Jones, who was hosting alongside Alex Scott, responded in a jokingly outraged manner: "Oh, you've got to stop doing that, that's twice now. I've left the first one go, but the second one..."

He added: "I've got to say sorry, in case anyone's offended. Carry on."

After her light telling off, Bronte was lost for words, and could only say "yeah, yeah" to finish off her answer.

'Bloody' has been considered a generally mild expletive since 1960, following 200 years of being heavily tabooed.

It was confirmed earlier this week that Gladiators has been renewed for a second series, with Hungry Bear Media's managing director Dan Baldwin teasing that the new series will "have some amazing surprises in store for the fans."

The Gladiators finale airs at 5.50pm on March 30 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
