One person shot on Pinecrest Drive in Dothan, suspect on the run

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN)—Dothan Police responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Pinecrest Drive Friday afternoon.

Dothan Police Spokesman Lt. Scott Owens said when officers arrived on the scene, they found a man with at least two gunshot wounds. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.

Investigators say they have identified a suspect who is not in custody, and they believe the victim and the suspect have a history with one another. The suspect has not been publicly named.

According to Owens, there were witnesses to the shooting, and investigators are not sure if the rounds were fired from someone on the ground or in a car, but it is believed the victim was inside a home at the time of the shooting. Over twelve rounds were fired.

Lt. Owens says they do not think the public is in danger.

The 200 block of Pinecrest Drive and the 500 block of Moss Street were closed for crime scene processing but opened around 4:30 p.m. Carver School for Math, Science, and Technology went on soft lockdown around the time of the shooting.

Police have not released any additional information about the shooting but did say Investigators and Forensic Services personnel are on the scene.
