CT man killed in head-on crash between school bus and motor vehicle

A man was killed in a crash involving a school bus in Cheshire on Monday morning.

The collision was reported just before 6:30 a.m. in the area of Highland Avenue and Stony Hill Road where emergency crews responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash, according to the Cheshire Police Department.

Police said the crash involved a Subaru and a school bus. Only drivers were in each vehicle at the time of the crash.

The Subaru driver, identified as 52-year-old Casey Kennedy of Cheshire, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead, police said.

No other injuries were reported.

According to a preliminary investigation, the school bus was traveling south on Highland Ave and the Subaru was traveling north. The Subaru reportedly crossed over the double yellow line and struck the front end of the school bus despite the bus attempting to maneuver as far to the right of the southbound lane as possible, police said.

Police said Highland Avenue — which is also known as Route 10 — was closed between Stony Hill Road and Country Club Road while authorities investigated.
