Man injured in Springfield stabbing; Man arrested on aggravated murder charge

A person was seriously injured in a stabbing in Springfield Sunday evening.

Crews were dispatched to the 700 block of N. Florence Street at approximately 8:16 p.m. on reports of a stabbing, according to Springfield Division of Police dispatch records.

Upon arrival, officers located a man bleeding heavily with a stab wound to the right upper chest.

A Springfield Division of Police incident report described that the victim stated he asked a long-time acquaintance of his, later identified as Bobbie Radcliff, about owning him money. The man said fight began between the two of that Radcliff had stabbed him multiple times.

One witness on scene told police that they heard the two men fighting and when they turned around, they saw the victim hit Radcliff. The witness said Radcliff then got up and continued to fight with the victim before seeing the victim run away from the area bleeding.

Radcliff was then seen by a witness running to his vehicle and driving away from the scene.

The victim was transported to the scene to Springfield Regional Medical Center where he was later flown to Miami Valley Hospital. News Center 7 is working to learn an update on his condition. The incident report indicated that the victim would not have survived to be flown to Miami Valley Hospital if wasn’t for the response of the officers that arrived on scene first.

Officers later arrived at Radcliff’s home, which was near the scene, and spoke with his sister. She said she had not seen her brother, but called him for police. While on the phone Radcliff told the officer he “did what he had to do” because the victim attacked him.

Police got Radcliff to return back to the scene and was took him custody. He told police he tossed out the weapon used to stab the man.

Radcliff is being held in the Clark County Jail on attempted murder and tampering with evidence charges. His bond was set at $75,000, according to online court records.

He’s scheduled to appear in court next on June 8.
