First responders were dispatched to the Whole Foods at 5269 River Rd. at about 12 p.m. for a car that went through the front door and stopped in the back of the produce department.

An employee told DC News Now he spoke to the driver, who said she accidentally hit the gas pedal.

She jumped the curb in her SUV and drove through the entrance, knocking over some produce stands before she stopped just before the seafood counter.

“That’s crazy. She got all the way back there. It’s wild,” said Casey Swiderski, a customer.

The crash forced the closure of the grocery store while crews cleaned up the mess, and made the repairs.

The driver and her daughter were in the car – they were not hurt. One woman inside the store suffered minor injuries, according to Montgomery County Police.

“I was supposed to be here earlier when this all happened. I’m glad I wasn’t here,” said Haley Adams, another customer.

The grocery store reopened about six hours after the crash forced it to close.
