One person dead and two injured after Russia pummels nine communities in Sumy Oblast

One person was killed and two injured after Russia shelled nine settlements in Ukraine's Sumy Oblast, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported on May 12.

Russian forces shelled border areas and populated areas in Sumy Oblast 26 times throughout the day, with 157 explosions recorded.

Most of the attacks involved mortar fire, but the Russians also utilized tanks, artillery, and drones.

The communities affected by the shelling include Sumy, Bilopillya, Myropil, Krasnopillya, Velykopysarivka, Esman, Shalyhyne, Seredyno-Budskyi, and Znob-Novhorodske.

One resident was killed and two others injured in Krasnopillya.

The community was subjected to mortar fire (7 explosions) and artillery fire (19 explosions).
