According to officers, a white GMC Yukon was speeding eastbound on Interstate 470 when the driver took the Blue Ridge Boulevard exit but was going too fast and missed the ramp.

The GMC traveled off the roadway and struck an attenuator — also known as crash cushions or barriers — and a guard rail, KCPD said.

After striking the barrier and the rail, the GMC flipped multiple times causing the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, to be ejected from the vehicle. Police pronounced them dead at the scene.
