One man critically injured in east Vancouver crash

Jul. 1—One man was extricated from a car and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash in east Vancouver Wednesday, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.

Vancouver fire was dispatched around 6:23 p.m. to the intersection of Northeast 132nd Avenue and 31st Street for reports of a person trapped inside a car. Crews used large cutting and spreading tools to cut off the top half of the car, a news release states.

Crews got the man out of the car within eight minutes of the first engine arriving. AMR and Vancouver Fire paramedics took him to a hospital in an ambulance, according to the fire department.

The Vancouver Police Department is investigating the crash, according to the news release. The man's name was not released.
