One killed, eight displaced in Pensacola house fire

A Sunday evening house fire in Pensacola killed a 64-year-old woman and displaced eight other residents of the home.

According to Dominique Epps, the city of Pensacola's assistant public information officer, the Pensacola Fire Department and police responded to a house fire with possible entrapment on the 3300 block of Marcus Drive around 6:50 p.m. Sunday.

Epps told the News Journal that upon arrival, responders found a 64-year-old woman dead near the front door. There were also three adults and five children displaced from the home.

"(Responders) did determine there were no smoke detectors in the home, unfortunately," Epps said.

Florida's State Fire Marshal, PPD and PFD Fire Prevention are investigating the cause of the fire. No further information was released.
