Sheriff identifies victim of fatal crash east of Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Kan. (KSNW) – A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash east of Whitewater Wednesday evening. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office says the victim was 59-year-old Blake Randall Strasser of rural Whitewater.

According to Butler County Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Daimon Cundiff, they received a call at 6:12 p.m. from a passerby of the crash near Northwest Tawakoni Road and Northwest 100th Street.

“A passerby was driving down the road, saw the vehicle, they did call, and we had a deputy that was close to the area that was here fairly quickly,” Cundiff said.

Strasser was driving a pickup that was hauling a trailer. The sheriff’s office says the truck had been traveling west on NW 100th Street when the driver lost control. The truck left the road and came to rest in a tree row on the north side of the road.

The sheriff’s office says Strasser was not wearing a seatbelt. Investigators say they are looking into whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
