Ozark woman shot after fight over a man, police say

OZARK, Ala (WDHN)– One person was injured, and another is charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Ozark Tuesday afternoon.

At around 3:40 p.m., Ozark Police rushed to the Texaco gas station on Roy Parker Road after receiving reports that a woman had been shot.

Ozark Police Deputy Chief Micheal Bryan tells WDHN the woman had been shot at a home in the 700 block of Marvin Porter Road in Ozark before driving to the gas station to report the crime.

According to Deputy Chief Bryan, the suspect, identified as Antavia Chantele Hornsby, shot the woman in the rear side of her abdomen after an ongoing fight between the two over a man they were both in a relationship with.

Hornsby and the woman were sitting in separate cars in the driveway of the home when the shooting occurred, Deputy Chief Bryan says.

The victim is undergoing medical treatment and is expected to fully recover.

Hornsby is being charged with one count of attempted murder.
