One injured in collision east of Logansport

May 20—A juvenile female was hospitalized with serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision Monday morning at the intersection of Logansport Road and County Road 600 East, according to a release from the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Cass County Central Dispatch was notified of a multiple vehicle crash at approximately 7:07 a.m. Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office, Indiana State Police, Walton Fire Department, New Waverly Fire Department, Cass County Emergency Management Agency and Cass County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. Initial assessment found a southbound sport utility vehicle was struck by an eastbound semi-tractor trailer.

Preliminary investigation by Sergeant Pat Zeider found Brenden Corn, 25, of rural Logansport, had been driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on County Road 600 East when he failed to yield the right of way to an eastbound 2024 Kenworth semi-tractor and trailer. The Kenworth was driven by Juan Reynoso, 49, of Joliet, Ill. The box trailer was partially loaded with cargo.

A juvenile female passenger in the Tahoe sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette by Cass County EMS.

Alcohol and narcotics are not believed to be a factor in this crash.
