Victim identified after deadly shooting at Baton Rouge gas station; police say stray bullet hit home
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department says two of the shootings that occurred overnight are believed to be connected.
According to emergency medical service officials, personnel responded at 12:13 a.m. Monday, April 22, to Kangaroo Express, 12390 Scotland Ave. At the time, one person had critical injuries.
The Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed Monday afternoon that 51-year-old Michael Thomas later died.
Along with EMS, members of the Baton Rouge Fire Department and BRPD responded to the scene.
Crime scene tape and shell casings were also observed at the scene.
The police say the shooting in the 1900 block of Bradfield was related to one at the Scotland Avenue gas station.
Police were called to a home in the 1900 block of Bradfield Avenue about a stray bullet striking a 51-year-old woman. She was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
A total of three shootings happened across Baton Rouge overnight.
Another man died after a shooting around 11 p.m. Sunday, April 21. The shooting took place at the Circle K, 4415 Floynell Drive, EBRSO said.
