One dead, two injured after late-night accident in Hensley Township
May 16—HENSLEY TOWNSHIP — One person is dead and two are injured after a fatal car collision in Hensley Township on Wednesday.
Champaign County Sheriff's deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident in Hensley Township around 11:02 p.m. Police determined that a vehicle was traveling north on 900 East and crossed into the southbound lanes at approximately 2400 North and was struck by a vehicle traveling south.
The driver of the first vehicle traveling north died as a result of the accident.
A passenger of the vehicle traveling south was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of that vehicle also was taken to Carle by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The names of those involved have not yet been released. The accident continues to be under investigation by the Champaign County Sheriff's Office and accident investigators, police said.
