One dead, two hospitalized in Kings County crash: CHP

KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – One man is dead and two others were hospitalized following a crash early Sunday morning, the California Highway Patrol says.

Officers responded to the area of Avenal Cutoff Road, south of 25th Avenue, for the report of a traffic collision around 2:15 a.m.

Officers say a 23-year-old Fresno man driving a 2024 blue Chevrolet Malibu northbound on Avenal Cutoff Road crossed over the center divide line around 25th Avenue, and crashed into the front of an oncoming white 2016 Ford F-150.

The CHP investigation revealed that the Ford pickup, driven by 51-year-old Victor Soto, Jr of Visalia was traveling southbound on Avenal Cutoff Road when the Chevrolet Malibu struck it.

As a result of the collision Soto, Jr received major injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital by Skylife medical helicopter service.

Officers say the driver of the Malibu sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The CHP adds that 20-year-old Taeshon Ogan of Fresno, was a passenger in the Chevrolet Malibu. He also suffered major injuries and was airlifted by a second Skylife helicopter to a different area hospital.

Investigators say they don’t yet know what caused the sedan’s driver to cross over the center divide.  Nor is it known yet if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Hanford-area CHP office at 559-582-0231.
