One dead after tragic Thursday night accident

Apr. 29—The Herald-Banner previously received some incorrect information about the accident described in this story. The head-on collision resulted in the death of one of the drivers, and not both, as was originally reported in the April 29, 2024 print edition of the Herald-Banner.

An investigation is still ongoing in regard to a head-on collision that claimed the life of one motorist in Greenville Thursday night.

The accident happened shortly after 11 p.m. that night on the service road south of Interstate 30 near Exit 97 when an Infinity sedan and a GMC pickup truck struck each other head-on, resulting in the death of the driver of the Infinity, Lt. Brandon West with the Greenville Police Department told the Herald-Banner.

Both individuals were Hunt County residents but their names have not yet been released.
