One dead in Pleasanton overnight mobile home fire

(BCN) — One person died in a residential fire in Pleasanton late Wednesday night. Firefighters from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department were called to the 3200 block of Vineyard Avenue at 11:59 p.m. after receiving a report of a fire at the Hacienda Mobile Home Park.

A mobile home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, according to Rosa Ramos, a fire department spokesperson. One person was believed to be trapped inside the mobile home.

Firefighters attempted entry through heavy smoke, but were forced to retreat when a flashover occurred, which is a near-simultaneous ignition of all combustible surfaces and materials in an enclosed area. After the flames were controlled from the exterior, firefighters reentered the mobile home and fully extinguished the fire.

One person was able to escape the home and was taken to a hospital. An update on their condition was not immediately available.

Another person was unable to escape and was declared dead at the scene. The source and cause of the fire is under investigation. “Our thoughts are with the victims and families during this difficult time,” Rosas said.
