One dead, one injured in shooting on Washington Avenue
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Emergency medical services responded to a fatal shooting that occurred just before noon Saturday on 2000 block of Washington Avenue in Baton Rouge.
David Atkins, 18, was fatally shot, and another was injured in the shooting, according to emergency officials.
EMS spokesperson Brad Harris said that the victim who was injured was transported to the hospital.
BRPD: Woman arrested in connection to fatal shooting
Atkins was wanted by law enforcement for escaping from the East Baton Rouge Juvenile Detention in November 2023, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
No motive has been identified in this case, according to BRPD.
This is an ongoing investigation.
