One teen dead, another injured in northeast Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person is dead after a reported shooting in northeast Columbus Monday night.

According to a Columbus police dispatcher, the shooting was reported at 9:45 p.m. in the 2700 block of Brentnell Avenue. The victim, identified as 18-year-old Antonio Jones Jr. was pronounced by Columbus EMS at 9:41 p.m.

Police said that a second victim, an unidentified juvenile, was self-transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. They were treated and released.

Police do not know what led to the shooting and there is no suspect information available at this time. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Columbus Police Homicide Unit at (614) 645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).

It is the second fatal shooting in the same area of Brentnell Avenue in the past five weeks. Derdick Robinson, 24, was gunned down in front of an apartment complex on April 9. Three suspects were arrested.
