Suspect arrested in February New Iberia homicide
NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY)– An arrest was made in the fatal New Iberia shooting from February.
Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Lamarson James Benoit, 21, on the charges of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, illegal use of weapons, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated criminal damage to property and possession of a firearm in a firearm free zone.
Benoit was taken into custody on Monday.
Madison Olivier, 19, of New Iberia was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
The incident happened in the 400 block of Calhoun Street around 6 p.m. on Feb. 22, where police found Olivier shot dead inside a vehicle, authorities said.
