One dead after head-on collision on Ohio state highway

NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) – A man is dead after a two-vehicle, head-on fatal crash in Perry County early Wednesday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 22-year-old Ronald Boggs was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla westbound on State Route 37. At the same time, Joshua Lawrence, 43, was driving a 2018 GMC truck eastbound on SR 37. The truck included a trailer that included three passenger vehicles on it.

At approximately 6:09 a.m. Boggs drove his Toyota left of center and struck the GMC truck head-on near Melon Hill Road in Pike Township, just east of New Lexington, Ohio.

Boggs, of Stockport, Ohio, was taken to Genesis Perry County Medical Center in Somerset, Ohio, but he was unable to survive his injuries and was pronounced dead.

It is unknown if there were any other factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
