One dead after crash between bus and car

A driver is dead and two others have been airlifted to hospital, after a crash between a car and a bus in regional Victoria.

A sedan veered onto the wrong side of the road, before colliding with a bus at Sulky, north of Ballarat, on Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The driver of the bus and one passenger sustained serious as a result of the Midland Highway crash that happened around 3.30pm.

The bus driver was trapped for some time, but the pair have since been airlifted to hospital for treatment – one the Royal Melbourne and the other to The Alfred Hospital.

Seven other passengers on the bus have sustained minor injuries and are being treated at the scene.

The gender and age of both drivers are not known and the Midland Highway remains closed in both directions.

The investigation remains ongoing.
