Teen killed, another injured after overnight shooting in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police are investigating a shooting in which a teenager was killed near Truman and Hardesty Avenue on Monday morning.

According to police, around 1 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area for a prowler. As police were on their way to the area, someone fired shots.

One dead in Butler, Missouri motorcycle crash: police

When police arrived, they found one boy dead. Responders found another man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. They were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man who was killed was identified as Jesus Mendoza, a 17-year-old boy.

No one is in custody this morning. Police are asking anyone with information, to call the TIPS hotline or KCPD.
