One dead, another injured in Murfreesboro 7-Eleven shooting, police make arrest in case

A man is dead and another is recovering after they were shot outside a 7-Eleven on Joe B Jackson Parkway in Murfreesboro Wednesday afternoon.

Murfreesboro police were called to the scene around 2:30 p.m., spokesman Larry Flowers said by email. When officers arrived, they found one man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and the other with a gunshot to the arm, Flowers said.

The man who'd been shot multiple times died at the hospital. Police have not yet named him.

"Preliminary investigation indicates two men in a black Ford F150 were towing a Chrysler 200 and stopped at the business," Flowers said in the email. "The truck was having mechanical issues. They removed the Chrysler from a trailer."

At that time, a silver Mercedes with the two victims pulled into the parking lot.

"There was a confrontation, and then shots were fired," Flowers said. "After the shots, the two men in the truck got into a physical altercation with the man shot in the arm."

The victim who'd been shot in the arm ran into the convenience store and sought shelter there.

Officers detained the two men from the truck and took them to police headquarters for questioning.

They subsequently charged Juan Charco, 26, with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, Flowers said. The other man in the truck, Charco's brother, was questioned and released.

Police are still investigating what led up to the shooting, Flowers said.
