KAYSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — A person is in critical condition after veering off the interstate and crashing down an embankment in Kaysville Thursday morning, according to Kaysville Fire.

“Our firefighters found a single patient in critical condition and worked rapidly to move them to the ambulance, where KFD paramedics performed a rapid sequence induction (RSI) intubation,” Kaysville Fire stated.

RSI intubation reportedly involves sedating and paralyzing a conscious patient using medication, allowing for the intubation tube to be safely placed. Kaysville Fire said this incident marks the fifth RSI intubation that their paramedics have performed since the program began in late 2023.

The individual was then flown from the scene to an area trauma center.

Utah Highway Patrol is currently investigating this crash.
