Omarosa Manigault to leave White House role with Trump administration

Former reality TV star and current White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman plans to leave her role with the Trump administration by spring, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday.

Manigault has reportedly resigned from her position as the director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison, and White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders says her resignation is effective Jan. 20 -- exactly one year since President Trump's inauguration.

The announcement from one of Trump's most ardent African-American supporters comes one week after the White House made public that deputy national security adviser Dina Powell would also leave the administration early in 2018.
