The Olsen twins are still saying “no thanks” to a guest appearance on “Fuller House”
If, like us, you spent your weekend binge-watching the new season of Fuller House on Netflix, then you probably noticed the youngest Tanner sister has yet to make an appearance. And it may not be happening any time soon. Unfortunately, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are still refusing to be Fuller House guest stars, *and cue the collective shattering of our nostalgic dreams.*
This isn’t totally new information, though. When Netflix initially announced its Full House reboot, the Olsen twins expressed no interest in reprising their role as Michelle Tanner. And not much has changed.
But the creators and cast remained hopeful through the first two seasons of the show, with the cast playfully teasing the twins with some not-so-subtle digs. First, with a slightly awkward callout in Fuller House’s series premiere, followed by an especially desperate plea in Season 2 from D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure) and Uncle Jesse (John Stamos).
Still, the Olsen twins are saying “no thanks” to returning to the revived sitcom. Have mercy!
While speaking to TVLine recently, the show’s creator, Jeff Franklin, had this to say.
“Personally, I’ve given up asking them. The door is open, but I’m not going to be calling them anymore to invite them. They just don’t seem interested in coming. It’s been three years of invitations, so they know the door is open. It’s up to them to decide if they want to come play or not.”
Uh oh, this could explain why the first half of Season 3 held no Michelle references.

But to be fair to the World’s Most Famous Twins, they’re all grown up now and their interests have obviously changed. The blonde pair have repeatedly said they were done with acting, and have been taking the fashion world by storm. The sisters have launched two wildly successful lines, The Row and Elizabeth and James, and have won numerous coveted CFDA awards. They’re doing what they love and they’re damn good at it, how could we be mad at that?
So, we won’t be seeing little Michelle on our screens, but we can still follow the story of the rest of the Tanners and their friends. Fuller House focuses on eldest sister D.J., who’s now a widow raising three sons with the help of her sister, Stephanie, and best friend, Kimmy Gibbler. And you never know who’ll walk through those doors. After all, they are always open.
