Olive Wilkinson death: Arrest as 1983 Cleethorpes murder probe reopens

A 63-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder as police reopened an investigation into the death of a woman more than 40 years ago.

Olive Wilkinson, 36, was found dead having sustained injuries at her family home in Montague Street, Cleethorpes, on 10 June 1983.

Humberside Police confirmed it had reopened a murder investigation.

It followed a 2023 cold case review prompted by "new information", the force added.

The suspect remains in custody.

'Family being supported'

Det Ch Insp Amy Keane-Christie, leading the investigation, said: "The information received has led to an arrest of a man who is a new suspect to the investigation, which originally launched in 1983, into Olive's murder.

"Olive's family have been informed and are currently being supported by family liaison officers.

"A team of specialist trained detectives are currently dedicated to reviewing and progressing the investigation."

Ms Keane-Christie said scene guards were in place at "a number of locations" in the town as searches took place.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact police.
