Learn about the Student of the Week nominees:

Madilyn Clunie, North Harrison High School: Madilyn will attend the University of Southern Indiana, where she received a Presidential Scholarship, and major in elementary education. Madilyn is a three-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball and tennis. She has been an active member of BPA, Science Olympiad, FFA and 4H.

Eva Hidalgo, Portland Christian High School: Eva is an excellent student. She is also a mature young lady who cares for other students, having an empathetic nature that is unique for someone her age. She has excelled on the softball field. But my impression of her as a student in my classroom affirms her as an extraordinary young lady who focuses on her faith, her family and friends, and a desire to learn.

Jenin Badwan, Fern Creek High School: Jenin is a senior who does so much for the Creek. She is on the yearbook staff and is actively around at events capturing memories for her classmates. She is also excelling in the classroom and knocking out her goals of being accepted to college and even receiving scholarships. She is incredibly helpful to all adults in the building. Despite ongoing strife in her home country of Palestine, she has kept her head up here at school and even been open to informing her peers of her amazing Palestinian culture.

We appreciate her and know she'll do great things in the future.

Valentin Chavez, Southern High School: Valentin is a senior machine tool student at Southern High School who takes great pride in his work. He recently competed in the statewide SkillsUSA competition for machining against other high schools throughout Kentucky and earned the first-place award. He currently co-ops for Samtec Inc. and plans to work toward a mechanical engineering degree after high school.
