Oklahoma WR gets scholarship days after Week 1 performance
Oklahoma wide receiver Lee Morris began the 2018 season as a walk-on. He’ll start Week 2 as a scholarship member of the team.
Morris made a big impact in Week 1 in Oklahoma’s blowout win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday. Monday, on the heels of that performance, coach Lincoln Riley gave him a scholarship.

Morris did something no OU player had done in 5 years
Believe it or not, an Oklahoma player hadn’t blocked a punt since 2013 until Morris blocked one on Saturday.
The punt block came in the first quarter as Oklahoma led 7-0. The ball was recovered in the end zone by Curtis Bolton and Oklahoma extended its lead to 14-0. Per OU’s sports staff, it was the first time the Sooners had recovered a blocked punt for a TD since 2002.
Morris then scored a touchdown himself on Oklahoma’s next drive. He caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Kyler Murray on Oklahoma’s ensuing offensive play. The Sooners won the game 63-14.
