Oklahoma woman killed in I-44 crash

Feb. 11—A 24-year-old woman from Stillwater, Oklahoma, was killed in a crash late Friday night in Joplin.

According to the Joplin Police Department, at 11:04 p.m. Friday, an eastbound semi tractor-trailer on Interstate 44 entered the deceleration lane to take the exit at Missouri Highway 43, when an eastbound passenger vehicle struck the rear of the semi and left the roadway.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as Rachel Binford, died at the scene from injuries.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The driver and passenger in the semi-truck were not injured.

Members of the Joplin Police Department Major Crash Team responded to the scene to conduct the crash investigation.

This is Joplin's fourth traffic crash fatality in 2024.
