Oklahoma City Zoo celebrates Bird Awareness Day
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden is celebrating Bird Awareness Day on Saturday, April 6.
According to the Zoo, its annual Animal Awareness Days continue as visitors have the opportunity to learn all about various birds and why they’re important.

Bird enthusiasts will get the chance to talk with OKC Zoo’s animal experts as they share more information about our feathered friends living at the Zoo.
Officials say there will be interactive education stations, special animal enrichment activities, a chance to see the zoo’s bird ambassadors up close, caretaker chats and more from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Children’s Zoo and Dan Moran Aviary areas.

The OKC Zoo encourages guests to dress up in flamingo pink to learn all about the Zoo’s 77 species of birds that live in the Children’s Zoo, Oklahoma Trails Aviary, Expedition Africa, Sanctuary Asia, the Sam Moore Gardens, the Dan Moran Aviary and other parts of the Zoo.
LOCAL NEWS: Zoos to study animal behavior during solar eclipse
The Zoo’s annual Animal Awareness Days are a way to bring awareness to conservation efforts both locally and globally. The OKC Zoo has been working to help protect bird populations as it gives a portion of its Round Up for Conservation Fund to the George Miksch Sutton Avian Research Center.
Bird Awareness Day activities are free with regular admission.
