Ukrainian rock band Okean Elzy has broken new ground with their unveiling of their first English-language track in nearly three decades, Voices Are Rising.

Voices are rising, just let it out right now — this is the message conveyed by the song, which the band presented on the day Ukraine endured a massive missile attack by Russian forces.

"Here could have been big texts, stories, and press releases," the band said on Instagram.

"But today, we just want you to listen to the song and, most importantly, remember that light will always overcome darkness. Our Ukrainian voices have risen thanks to those who defend, restore, and carry their light every minute! Today, our support goes out to our energy workers."

Voices Are Rising is the first song in an entire English-language album, which has recently been announced – stating that the decision was inspired by Ukraine's first Oscar-winning documentary film 20 Days in Mariupol, directed by Mstyslav Chernov.

Okean Elzy celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2024. Last October, the band announced that they were on a new album, set to release in 2024. In February, Okean Elzy unveiled their first new song since 2022 — Vidpovid (Response), released on the second anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
