OKC Thunder and OG&E teaming up for disaster relief

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The Oklahoma City Thunder and OG&E are partnering together to support the communities that have been affected by severe weather.

Both organizations have already made significant contributions to disaster relief agencies but are now wanting to do more by teaming up and inviting the fans to help.

“We know that recovering from this type of devastation is a process and there is much to be done,” said Christine Berney, vice president of Community Engagement. “We are grateful to partner with OG&E and our fans to offer any support to our Oklahoma neighbors in the midst of crisis and at such a difficult time.”

OG&E is presenting a Thunder 50/50 raffle in which fans can purchase tickets online from now until May 13. The total amount from the raffle purchases will be split in half; half the proceeds will benefit Oklahoma disaster relief while the other half will go to the lucky winner. OG&E will be matching half of the proceeds that are going towards the disaster relief.

Fans do not have to be present at the game to purchase tickets or to win the raffle. The winning ticket will be posted online on May 13 during the third quarter of game four of the Western Conference Semifinals. The raffle pot sits at $4,390 as of 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

“As Oklahomans, helping our neighbors and communities following disasters is one way we live the Oklahoma Standard,” said Christi Woodworth, OG&E vice president of Marketing and Communications. “We are pleased to partner with the Thunder to double disaster relief funds to help Oklahomans recovering from recent severe storms. Many thanks to fans who purchased raffle tickets to make a difference in their neighbors’ lives.”

The Early Bird raffle was done Tuesday, May 7 at 12 p.m. with the winner receiving a signed Isaiah Joe jersey.
