According to the sheriff’s office, a neighbor told deputies Keeling had grabbed her 2-year-old child around 11:20 a.m. Friday, locked herself and the woman’s child inside her apartment and refused to return the child.

The mother reportedly broke a window in an attempt to get her child back.

When an Okaloosa County deputy arrived on the scene, Keeling allegedly ignored his demands to turn over the child. The deputy reportedly climbed through the broken glass and found Keeling in her living room, holding the child and rolling a pin. He then took Keeling into custody.

The child was unharmed, according to the sheriff’s office.

Keeling allegedly said she took the child away because she was trying to protect the child from falling down the outdoor stairs.
