Oil slightly higher, nearing $86 a barrel

Concerns about oil supplies helped push the price of benchmark crude up Tuesday.The Nymex was closed because of Hurricane Sandy, but electronic trading continued. Normal trading is expected to resume Wednesday.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange:

Benchmark crude rose 14cents to finish at $85.68 per barrel.

Gasoline fell 3 cents to end at $2.73 a gallon.

Heating oil fell 3 cents to finish at $3.09 a gallon.

Natural gas fell 11 cents to end at $3.69 per 1,000 cubic feet.

On the ICE Futures exchange in London:

Brent crude fell 36 cents to finish the day at $109.08 per barrel.
