OhioHealth honors organ donors, recipients

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – April is National Donate Life Month, and OhioHealth is celebrating the gift of life.

OhioHealth Doctors Hospital held a ceremony Monday to honor organ donors and the people whose lives they saved.

The event was also designed to help raise awareness of organ, eye and tissue donations and encourage more people to register as organ donors.

Erica Mullins’ son John died from a brain aneurysm on Father’s Day 2019 as he stepped up to the plate in a Little League baseball game.

She said she copes with the tragedy of John’s loss by knowing that his legacy lives on in others through the organs he donated.

OhioHealth leaders said donor and recipient families go through a rollercoaster of emotion and a unique emotional journey encompassing loss, new connections, gratitude, and hope.
