Ohio State women’s hockey earns third straight No. 1 overall seed for NCAA tournament
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — For the third season in a row, the Ohio State women’s ice hockey team are the team to beat in the NCAA tournament.
The Buckeyes (32-4-0, 26-2-0) earned the No. 1 overall seed Sunday afternoon for the 2024 NCAA women’s ice hockey tournament. Ohio State has made the championship game in the last two Frozen Fours — winning the title in 2022 and losing to conference rivals Wisconsin in 2023.

With Ohio State as a top-seed, two tournament matches will be played at the OSU Ice Rink beginning with the first round game between UCONN and Minnesota Duluth on Thursday at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will meet the Buckeyes on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Columbus.
Wisconsin was named the No. 2 seed one day after beating the Buckeyes 6-3 in the WCHA conference tournament final. The Badgers have won seven national championships and will try to win its fourth national title in the last five NCAA tournaments.
The 2024 Women’s Frozen Four will take place in Durham, New Hampshire with the semifinals on Mar. 22. The championship game will be on Mar. 24 at 4 p.m.
