Ohio State Vacates 2010 Football Wins
The Ohio State University has vacated all of its football team's 2010 season--in which it had a great 12-1 record--including its victory in the Sugar Bowl, in wihch five suspended teammates played, the Columbus Dispatch's Randy Ludlow reports. The school is responding to the NCAA's allegations that football players sold school-issued memorabilia to a tattoo parlor owner--and that then-coach Jim Tressel lied about what he knew of the rule-breaking. Five players were suspended in December, but they were allowed to defer their punishment until after the bowl game. Tressel resigned May 30.

Ohio State conceded to the NCAA that it is a "repeat violator" of the rules, but argues it's taken "appropriate" ""corrective and punitive actions." The football team has also been put on two-year probation.
