After all of the things that happened with Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma over the course of the 2017 season, Mayfield planting the OU flag at midfield after beating Ohio State in Columbus feels like a million years ago.

But the Ohio State players haven’t forgotten about it.

With the NFL draft around the corner, Mayfield is in Mobile, Alabama, this week for the Senior Bowl, putting himself on display for teams. Two Ohio State defensive linemen, Jalyn Holmes and Tyquan Lewis, are teammates of Mayfield on the North squad. According to Sports Illustrated, the two approached him on the team bus.

A potentially contentious situation quickly turned into laughs.

From SI:

On a charter bus ferrying the North team to and from practices at Ladd-Peebles stadium, two Ohio State players surrounded Mayfield in his seat, blocking him in. Defensive linemen Jalyn Holmes and Tyquan Lewis stared down Mayfield, and one of them broke the silence: “What’s wrong with you, bro?”

A pregnant moment passed, then the three burst out laughing. “That’s what you get for kicking my ass the year before!” Mayfield said, referring to the Sooners’ 45-24 loss to the Buckeyes in Norman back in September 2016. The Ohio State pair admitted they probably would have done the same thing had the tables been turned.

That’s pretty funny.

Mayfield caught a lot of flak for putting that flag into the turf at Ohio Stadium and eventually apologized for his actions, saying he got caught up in the moment.

It was just one notch on Mayfield’s belt in a tumultuous season that eventually resulted in a Heisman Trophy and a heartbreaking College Football Playoff semifinal loss. Now, Mayfield is out to prove he can be the face of a franchise.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson, he is in play to be selected at No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Browns.
