Ohio Massacre: Police Guard Funeral Home as Victims are Mourned – and Search for Killer Continues

Dozens of mourners arrived at a funeral home on Wednesday night to say goodbye to Gary Rhoden, one of the victims of last week's massacre that killed eight family members in rural Ohio.

But the mourners were not alone. Local police and sheriff's deputies stood watch, making sure that no one caused any trouble. At least two marked vehicles sat outside.

The police presence was a grim reminder that the person – or persons – responsible for the killings are still at large. Police have not publicly disclosed the motive.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has described the killings as "a pre-planned execution" and "a sophisticated operation," and said that marijuana grow operations were found at three of the four locations at which the victims were shot.

Authorities tell PEOPLE that the case is ongoing, but declined to give any additional details.

"I assume the person or the people who committed these murders are watching the news reports," state Attorney General Mike DeWine said at a Wednesday press conference. "I do not intend or want to broadcast any information that would let them know details about this investigation."

Earlier this week, authorities released a coroner's report that said that many of the family members were shot multiple times. Some of them had bruising, indicating a struggle with their assailants.

Police vow to solve the case. "Somebody knows something,” a police source told PEOPLE. "We'll investigate until we come up with an answer."
