Ohio man taken into custody after suspected B and E

May 15—TRAVERSE CITY — An Ohio man was taken to jail after allegedly trying to steal from a gas station, according to police reports.

The 19-year-old first set off the business' corporate alarm system at 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday near the 1000 block of South Union Street, Traverse City Police Department Lt. Ryan Taylor said.

The man was wearing dark clothing, a mask and had a machete tucked underneath his sweatshirt and was allegedly trying to steal a few packs of cigarettes and some Zig Zag rolling papers when a TCPD officer — and K-9 — found him in the business and ordered him outside, reports state.

Taylor said the man was taken into custody with no issue, and transported to the Grand Traverse County Jail, where he is awaiting his arraignment.
