A toddler being murdered in cold blood is bad enough. But the person who is allegedly responsible showing that she feels no remorse may be even worse.

On Monday, as the judge read the indictment for Bionca Ellis, a 32-year-old Black woman accused of randomly killing a 3-year-old toddler, she could be seen smiling before she pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include one count of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault, one count of endangering children, one count of tampering with evidence and one count of misdemeanor theft.

Ellis’ bond was set at $5 million, according to WKYC.

Below is the chilling video of Ellis smirking while in court:

The incident involving Ellis allegedly occurred late afternoon on Monday, June 3, as Margot Wood and her son, Julian, were at a grocery store west of Cleveland, per the Associated Press.

Margot put her son in a shopping cart as they were headed to the parking lot of the grocery store before Ellis appeared out of nowhere, armed with two kitchen knives she stole from a nearby thrift store.

Ellis then suddenly stabbed the 3-year-old boy twice as he sat in the shopping cart before attacking his mother as she attempted to lift him out of the seat before running away. Later, police found Ellis a short distance away from the crime scene with a bloodied knife in her hand.

Local police confirmed that Julain was transferred to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The attack has been described as “a random act of violence” by local authorities.

During the bond hearing on Monday, the father of the 3-year-old addressed the court. “That day, one week ago, she took everything from us. There’s nothing that could ever replace my son or anything that my wife and I, even our other kids, are going through,” he said. “It’s horrendous. I really wish no bail. Period. Or extend it to the maximum limit possible that you can, at the very least. Just do whatever you can to keep this monster behind bars.”

It was also announced in court that the prosecuting attorneys are seeking the death penalty, according to WANE 15.
