Authorities said at 1:19 a.m. Saturday, May 18, Gastonia officers were called to South King Street for the report of a violent domestic-related call.

As officers got to the scene, they encountered a woman armed with multiple firearms. Witnesses heard officers yelling “drop the guns” several times.

The armed woman shot one Gastonia officer in the legs multiple times. That officer and another officer fired back, killing the woman, authorities said.
