Olive Branch man wanted in traffic stop shooting captured in Missouri

UPDATE, Tuesday: Sarah Skriver, the suspect’s girlfriend, has been charged with being an Accessory After the Fact, officials announced Tuesday.

According to the District Attorney of Desoto County’s Public Information Officer, Skriver is set to appear in court on Tuesday.

UPDATE: Colby Alan Towles was captured by US Marshals near the Bass Pro Angler’s Lodge Hotel in Springfield, Missouri Monday right before 5 p.m., according to our sister station KOLR.

Towles also had a child with him. The child is now safe.

The city of Olive Branch says detectives with the Olive Branch Police Department are en route to begin the process of having Towles extradited to face charges in regard to the officer-involved shooting.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Olive Branch Police are searching for a motorcyclist who they say opened fire on officers during a traffic stop, officials say.

Police identified the suspect as Colby Alan Towles, 34, of Olive Branch. As of 1:30 p.m., he had not been captured.

Warrants have been issued for Towles on two counts of aggravated assault against a police officer.

Police say he was riding a dark gray Harley Davidson Road Glide, and he may be in a silver Ford F-250 pickup. If you have information, call police at 662-892-9400 or 662-895-4111.

According to reports, a little before 1:45 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on Highway 302 near the intersection of Craft-Goodman Frontage Road.

During the interaction, an unknown person on a motorcycle approached the stop and began yelling at officers. They then left the scene heading west on Highway 302.

Shortly after, the motorcyclist made a U-turn and opened fire on the officers. Officials say one officer returned fire and the suspect fled the scene.

No officers were injured.
