A family who sparked outrage when their toddler had a wee on the This Morning studio floor have returned to show off their third child.

The Allens first appeared on the ITV daytime show to talk about their “off grid” parenting style, which involved shunning school, vaccines and rules, in 2017 but became more famous for their then-one-year-old daughter Ostara weeing on the floor in front of the cameras as she pulled her nappy to the side.

Now, they have welcomed a third child and were invited back to This Morning to introduce her – and talk about that wee incident.

Mum Adele Allen said of their last visit: “I can see why it was funny, but I didn’t understand the anger about it. It bewildered me a bit.”

However, some viewers were also bewildered – by Adele and Matt’s parenting style, which despite following a back-to-basics ethos, included a surprising admission.

Adele said of son Ulysses: “He’s got an iPad at the moment.”

For their third pregnancy, the Allens refused all medical intervention, including scans, but insisted that they had kept their baby safe throughout.

Adele said: “We called the midwife the same day after she was born. We’re not stupid, we know to call people when we need them. It’s about listening to your body and not having a strict dogma.”

The Allens are still following their anti-vaccine beliefs, refusing to vaccinate their children.

When presenter Phillip Schofield questioned whether they were being selfish, Adele said: “I’m very well researched and I’m protecting them from the risks that are very real. I’m very enlightened on the subject and it all makes perfect sense to me.”

She added that she had done “hours and hours of research” by watching documentaries about vaccines.

On the subject of the kids’ lack of bedtime and schooling, Adele said: “I try to encourage them to listen to their own bodies. This one (Ulysses) cannot settle before 9pm or 10pm.

“(Our curriculum) changes from year to year, we follow what he’s interested in. If he’s not interested, he’s not going to pick it up.”

However, some viewers thought their parenting style seemed nice.
